Mini-DV, 2023, 9 mins 55

In 2008, Jonas Mekas - a Lithuanian WWII refugee who became one of the leading figures in the American Underground cinema - kindly agreed to an interview for my zine. The candid, revealing conversation, captured on mini-DV after a night of celebrations, delves into Mekas' decades of work on the edge of cinema and uncovers the sheer will of a crucial figure in film history, arriving at questions about the essence of film - or video - and offering words of stern encouragement for anyone who would call themselves a filmmaker.
